|“What can I use for my sensitive/dry skin?”
Monday, November 1st, 2010
This is one of the most common questions I get asked each day. As someone who also has sensitive skin, I understand the concerns that come along with not knowing what products are appropriate, and the frustration when a product I’ve spent money on doesn’t work or gives me a rash! As a Dermatology Physician Assistant, I have personally been able to try many different products, as well as see results on my patients. These are still my favorites…
Dove Sensitive Skin Bar or Body Wash (Unscented)
Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser or Cerave Hydrating Cleanser for the face
Cetaphil Cream for moisturizing the face and/or the body twice a day (remember, cream not lotion). There  is also Cerave Cream which is very good as well. Remember, it is important to moisturize in order to help sustain the moisture barrier of your skin.
Fragrance-free detergents such as All Free Clear (and avoid fabric softeners).
As the weather gets colder, dry and sensitive skin can become more of an issue. I know you all love them, but avoid long, hot showers because this can add to the the problem. And, don’t forget to use these products, they can make all the difference. But, if you are still having trouble with your skin, make an appointment. I’ll be happy to take a look and we can discuss further treatment options.
Have a good winter everyone!
